Staying fit & making money

Staying fit & making money is the same process...

You won’t see your gains in a week...

You may not see the impact by yourself...

But people will start noticing the changes...

You make more money & you have more comfort...

You stay fit, you look great...

Both boost your confidence. 💪💪

Happy learning!

Best thing I saw today?

I saw a wonderul poster outside a juice junction I visit quite often.

It said “Holiday because we all are going on Picnic

The people working there could have just mentioned “Holiday Today”. I could sense the happiness and excitement they would have had when they wrote or stuck this poster there.

I realised then that HAPPINESS IS ALWAYS IN SMALLEST OF THINGS.

Enjoy and be Happy

Be POSITIVE and PASS it on.

Decoding Horn Ok Please

HornOkPlease is at the back of every truck in India . Do you know the exact origin?

The exact origin of this not known but it’s also one of the most misunderstood and joked at set of words . India observes and follows Right hand drive steering and drives on Left Side of the road . HORN- this is written behind and on left hand side - this means if you are planning to overtake the truck from left hand side please HONK since the visibility or the left of vehicle is poor despite every truck in India has truckers Man Friday ( the cleaner ) peeping outside that window .

OK- this is written behind and in the middle - this means if you are following the truck behind at a safe distance ( one more sentence below ) it is OK . no action needed just be careful and keep following .

PLEASE- this is written behind and at the right hand side , this comes in line where the driver is sitting . this means If you need to overtake PLEASE DO . The truck will allow u to pass.

This is surely a work of a genius who decided that it should be written behind every truck in India, for the convenience of every affluent, educated driver with latest cars.

What's your take on this?

Presence of Mind

I heard this story from one of my professors in college & I think it is one of the answer given by a person with a great "Presence of Mind"

The candidate who came in for interview was a graduate in history.

Interviewer: You have a degree in History

Candidate: Yes

Interviewer: How would India be different, if it had been ruled by the French instead of the British?

Candidate: This interview would have been in French & not English :)

The candidate got selected!

Stray Dogs…. Who is to be blamed?

Bangalore has become a haven for stray dogs; wherever you go we find a lot of them. Infact we see a lot of them in groups going around in residential localities. I was looking for the reason for why there is increase of stray dogs in Bangalore.
I started observing very closely in my neighborhood for the reasons,
I enquired people & asked them & everybody told that we had complained to the department & nobody bothers to take care of them. Then I found out from the department that they take these dogs sterilize & leave them back. This is all they could do, as they cannot harm the creatures.
Then what is that we are doing wrong to see so many stray dogs in our neighborhoods.
Here are my suggestions,
- Let us keep our surroundings clean, so that these dogs do not get in our neighborhoods.
- Let us plan our cooking, as the extra food is finally fed to these dogs& the dogs tend to come around the same time daily expecting you to feed.
- If you do not feed them daily they start barking & chase people & eventually biting a few.
- Let us all educate the elders & the maids in our houses on this.
These are the few things which I noticed. If anybody has more suggestions please do comment, so that we somehow find a way to end our sleepless nights, as the dogs bark & cry all night.

Do resumes tell the whole story?

Do resumes tell the whole story?
Yes, you are right most of us think that Resume do not tell the whole story, there are two aspects to this question, one is that they don't tell the whole story because people want to be short and the second is that people want to hide/lie about their experience.
Resume is like a Mirror which can be seen through both ways. Some employers do not like much of elaboration. If the resume is more pages it seams like an autobiography to them and they will simply reject on the basis of too much of experience (chances are the person has worked in various fields/ companies where he/she had different experience, but not just focused on one particular thing). On the other hand some people write short and sweet resume which is to the point, then the clients /employers feels that the person is hiding his skills or do not have enough exposure to certain areas and they are rejected for that.
What I have leant over the years is if you are looking for a particular skill for a candidate with 10 years of experience, so there is no question for writing a story as to what he/she has done in each role on daily basis, it is assumed that with this many years of experience the person has done, learnt & knows about the industry and its roles in this field.
So what should someone in similar situation do, in my humble and honest opinion your summary of skills should say it all about your experience, accomplishments, accolades and anything outstanding you did in your recent past and in the job responsibility area there should be just enough information with regards to the skills utilized so that someone reading the resume should be able to understand that, what is mentioned is the skills summary is related to which projects/ clients /employers so that they know how many years you have hands-on experience with the respective skills. You cannot write the skills summary for all the projects/employers unless you are working on different domain or role all together.
On the other hand, people who make up their respective “fake” resume, I have learnt from my experience that if you ask them specific questions or follow the lead with the corresponding technology like when it was launched and when it was actually used / implemented in the companies, we can pin them down.
Similarly there are lot of other common things in front of us which we just don’t look at and people get away with it and end of the day we loose our face in front of our team, client and everyone who think that we are not doing our job as we are suppose to do.

Let us all take care & share thoughts & experiences which will help us to be better.
I hope this helps!

HR functions - Then & Now

Over the last several years, the transformation from personnel administration, labour management, industrial relations, to human resource management is hopefully, more than a change in vocabulary.

The pressure to deliver exponentially is on the rise for most HR functions. Other job functions are calling for HR to become a “strategic partner” in transforming from a low-level expense center to a more visible and responsive investment center. One key dimension of this transformation is globalization - incorporating the perspectives, customs, and laws of other countries into effective HR policies.

Here are a few aspects of increased pressure and forced change:

Then: Recruiting was earlier a magazine ad or a listing in the company notice board
Now: You are in talent sourcing and head hunting

Then: Word of mouth got you enough candidates
Now: You need be networking in the recruiting community, have a referral bonus scheme and be a proficient head hunter

Then: It was a long term commitment to a job - at least the outlook was to get something, perform, grow, settle down and retire
Now: Short cuts, launch pad techniques, overseas assignment, blue glass influence is viral

Then: Businesses had a lesser people factor orientation
Now: Knowledge businesses, increases sales orientation, the need for super customer care have all made pretty much all businesses to be more of ‘People Organization’

Then: Manufacturing, retail, travel & tourism, banks, healthcare (hospital & medical, pharma) had people working in the same sector or domain for a career
Now: It is becoming acceptable for a banker to become a programmer, a pharma sales professional to be selling credit cards (may from a call center)

It is a multi sector, flat world - There are more dimensions, more challenges and a continual tightening (growing up) task at hand. Like we always say, interesting times. What would work be without all these - just paper and files…

Isn’t it TRUE!!!!
